Lifelong Chester Resident, Former Borough Employee and Volunteer Dies at 82
Julia Robinson made a giant impact on borough over last eight decades.

One would be hard-pressed to find someone who contributed more to Chester Borough in the last 80 years than Julia Robinson.
The lifelong Chester resident died on Saturday, July 25, at the age of 82.
Robinson’s professional and personal accomplishments were vast and occurred on a daily basis.

Born May 24, 1933 in Chester, Robinson became an integral part of the community as she grew up. She was employed as the town’s Chief Financial Officer and Tax Collector in the borough for 30 years.
She served as a volunteer for a number of groups, including the Ladies Auxiliary for the Chester Fire Company, and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 342 and the Chester Volunteer First Aid Squad.

Robinson also belonged to the 50 Plus Club, Community Presbyterian Church, Chester Pool Committee, and the Chester Borough Town Council, as well as the planning board and historical society.
The sports fan was an avid golfer, member of the Chester Farmerettes and Ollie’s Dollies Softball teams along with coaching girls’ softball teams, and was an ASA umpire for the Men’s Softball League.
Robinson is survived by her husband of 61 years, Francis “Fritz” Robinson; five children; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Leber Funeral Home at 15 Furnace Road in Chester from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28. A 10:30 a.m. funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 29, at the Community Presbyterian Church in Chester.
Memorial donations may be made to the Chester First Aid Squad or the American Legion Post 342.
