While Olivia McGuire wasn’t born in the United States, she was as patriotic a person as one could find.
The longtime Chester Borough resident died last week, according to her obituary.
Born in Northern Ireland, McGuire moved to Chester in 1978. She was a United States Naval Nurse, known as Miss Mac, serving her country from 1946 to 1950 in Guam, the Brooklyn Navy Hospital, and at St. Albans Navy Hospital in Queens, New York.

McGuire was married to her husband, George, for 65 years, and had four sons and five grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, June 17 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the William J. Leber Funeral Home at 15 Furnace Road in Chester.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
