Longtime Mendham Resident, Volunteer Dies at 90
Shirley Grier spent seven decades living in town.

Shirley Grier watched Mendham evolve for nearly three-quarters of a century.
The longtime resident died recently at the age of 90, after living locally for 70 years.
Grier was the recreation director at Holly Manor Nursing Home in Mendham for 15 years, and a longtime member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Gladstone.

She also volunteered often, giving her time as the Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Prospect lodge #24 in Chester, and past member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Ralston Engine Company No. 1.
She was predeceased by her husband, William F. Grier, Jr.

She is survived by three sons; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Bailey Funeral Home in Mendham. Memorial donations may be made to the Women’s Auxiliary of Ralston Engine Company No. 1.
