Test-drive event yields money for West Morris Mendham High School PTO

, and members of the local community raised $2500.00 for WMMHS at a recent test-drive event, as part of Ford Motor Company’s Drive One 4 UR School program.

For each of the residents who test-drove a Ford at West Morris Mendham High School last Oct., Maplecrest Ford and Ford Motor Company donated $20, with funds going toward the WMMHS PTO. $30 was donated for those participants who took two test drives. A total of $2,500 was raised from the event.

Since the program’s inception in 2007, Drive One 4 UR School has offered 275,000 test-drives at more than 1,500 events to generate over $5 million for high schools nationwide. The money raised during the Drive One 4 UR School program has helped ensure that numerous extracurricular activities and programs continue in local communities.

“We are thrilled that so many people from the local community turned out to support West Morris Mendham High School with the Ford fundraiser. Participants had the chance to take a fun, casual drive in a Ford vehicle, while lending our students and community a helping hand,” said Maplecrest Ford owner, Tom Giordano.

“The PTO is grateful to Maplecrest Ford for working with West Morris Mendham High School on the Ford Test-Drive Fundraiser once again. I am personally delighted that this cooperative effort helps support the school, and a local business at the same time,” said Patrice Berg, chair, West Morris Mendham High School PTO.  “The money the PTO raises is always appreciated, but this year it is more important than ever since the high school is anticipating another tight budget this year. In the past, the PTO has bought digital microscopes for the science department, aerobic equipment for the gym, supplies for the art department and other much needed support. This money will certainly help the school maintain its high academic standards. On behalf of the PTO and the high school, I would like to thank Tom Giordano and Maplecrest Ford for their generosity, both in hosting the fundraiser and in donating additional money to the school.”
