Mary Anna Young Passes Away At 95

Mary worked as a Secretary at Picatinny Arsenal during WWII.

CHESTER, NJ— MARY ANNA YOUNG (SHANN) (November 04, 1921 – April 04, 2017)

Young, Mary Anna, 95 of Chester, NJ passed away on Tuesday April 4 th , 2017 at her son’s residence in Orange City, Florida surrounded by her family. Mary was born on November 04, 1921 to Louis and Mary (nee: Hollenbeck) Shann in Chester, NJ

She is preceded in death by her husband Clarence E. Young, her eldest son Edgar Young, her parents, five brothers Lou, Wilbert, Ralph, Fred and John Shann and six sisters, Edna Miller, Evelyn Ayers, Gladys May, Kate Shann, Ethel Shann, Helen Shann.

She is survived by her four sons, Craig Young (Dawn) of PA, Jeffery Young (Jeanne), of NJ, Richard Young of NJ, Brett Young (Honiegay) of Florida. One sister, Alice Smith (Roger) of NJ, ten grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Mary began her career as a Secretary at Picatinny Arsenal during WWII. Her greatest enjoyment was being a loving wife and mother to her five sons. She loved reading, going to garage sales and shopping.

Visitation will be on Sunday April 9 th at William J. Leber Funeral Home (908) 879-3090, 15 Furnace Road (corner of rt. 206), Chester, NJ 07930 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday April 10 th at 10:00 AM followed by a Private Family interment service where she will be laid to rest with her husband at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge, NJ.
