Member of St. Joseph's Church in Mendham Dies

Michael J. Shimko died suddenly at the age of 52.

Michael J. Shimko died suddenly on Sept. 1 at his home. He was 52.
Born on January 21, 1960 to the late Michael Anthony and Gerri Marie (Long) Shimko in Wilkes Barre, PA, Shimko was a resident of Randolph for many years.
Shimko was a postal clerk for the Martinsville Post Office for over 18 years as well as a 3rd degree Knight with the Commodore John Barry Council #2544 Knights of Columbus of Dunellen, and a member of in Mendham.
Shimko enjoyed shuffleboard, cooking, football, watching old movies, and was an avid reader.
Shimko is survived by his wife of 17 years, Mary Marelli Shimko, a sister Beth Sandberg, a step-brother Brian Reskow, and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are by the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Road in Mendham.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday, Sept. 6 from 4:00 p.n. until 8:00 p.m.. Funeral services will be from the funeral home on Friday, Sept. 7, at 9:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church on West Main Street, Mendham. Cremation will be private. The family will be accepting floral expressions of sympathy. Those wishing to make donations in memory of Shimko may make donations to St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 6 New Street inMendham.
