Photos: Mendham Books Doubles As School Art Gallery

In a store full of print of various types, a colorful and exotic series of animals might not seem out of place. But the prints adorning the entranceway of Mendham Books are not from a large company or even from one of the local authors that frequent the main street shop for signings.

These prints are the work of local artists in the, under the instruction of art teacher Susan Buckholz.

The theme for the this year’s art show was block printing as became first time printmakers. The sixth graders interpreted both the look and the feel of an animal by using the reduction method of carving a printing plate several times to layer line, shape and color.  

The art show is going on now at Mendham Books.
