Mendham Borough OEM Seeks Volunteers for CERT Team 2

The Mendham Borough Office of Emergency Management is seeking more borough residents to volunteer with its Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).

After having a successful first CERT class in November of 2014, more residents were interested in joining the CERT team, MBOEM has decided to hold a 2nd CERT class in March!

CERT is a function of the office of emergency management. The CERT team will respond to disasters when they occur by assisting the office of emergency management with different types of emergency management tasks such as helping with shelters, assisting with traffic control, distributing supplies and checking in on fellow residents. No prior experience is necessary!

All training and equipment will be provided by the Mendham Borough Office of Emergency Management!

Initial training for CERT will consist of only one weekend of basic training to be held in the Borough.

The CERT class will be held the weekend of 3/06/15 - 3/08/15,

Friday evening 7:30pm-10pm, Saturday day 9:00am-4:00pm, Sunday day 9:00am-12:00pm. Time will be allocated for lunch and breaks.Training will be held at the Garabrant Center on Wilson St. Food and beverage will be provided during the course.

After the initial training is completed, CERT members will have a quarterly meeting or training exercise as determined by the OEM coordinator.

Applications to join the CERT team are due no later than Monday 3/2/15.
