Mendham 'Brookside Belle' Passes Away At 63
Mary Lalier relocated to Brookside from Long Valley in 1980.

Mary Lalier, nee Mary Weidner, passed away after battling cancer on July 20, 2012 at home with her loving family by her side. Mary was born on April 8, 1949, and grew up in Lynbrook, Long Island, the oldest child of four, the daughter of Martin and Mary Weidner.
She graduated from Stella Maris High School in Rockaway Park, NY, in 1967, the same year she began dating Joseph F. Lalier of Glendale, NY. In 1970, Mary and Joe got married and after several years moved to Long Valley, NJ. They moved to Brookside, New Jersey in 1980 and have resided there since. Here they raised their 3 children, Joseph M. Lalier, Kathleen Lalier and Jennifer Lalier.
Mary enjoyed singing and was active in St. Joseph's choir in Mendham, NJ, for close to 30 years. She also sang for many years with the Brookside Belles, who brought a smile to many faces at nursing homes in the area. Mary was also an active volunteer at St. Joseph Church for many years. Mary always had a great sense of humor and a warm smile for everyone. She was a school crossing guard for many years in Mendham, where the children loved the treats she would hand out around Halloween, Christmas and Easter. She enjoyed gardening and loved animals, especially her beloved Golden Retriever, Bailey, who passed away 2 years ago. Mary and Joe loved vacationing at their summer home in Maine, where they enjoyed watching the loons from their living room and taking sightseeing trips along the coast of Maine. But more than anything else, Mary loved being with her family and cooking some incredible meals and was so happy to spend time with her children, their spouses and her 7 adoring grandchildren, who knew her as "Grammy".
