Mendham, Chester Choristers Sing With Queen Latifah at Super Bowl

Local members of New Jersey Youth Chorus selected to take stage at most watched television event in history.

Super Bowl XLVIII has come and gone, but for many locals, the event created memories that will last a lifetime.

Those memories can now be shared by a group of singers from the Mendhams and Chesters, who, as part of the Advanced Chorus of the New Jersey Youth Chorus, stood at midfield on Super Bowl Sunday and belted out “America The Beautiful” with Queen Latifah.

Julia Doyle, Diana Kerr, Julia Kornick, Kellianne Kornick, and Alison Verdesca of Mendham, along with Eileen Doyle-Samay of Chester, found out the Monday before the big game via Skype invitation from the New Jersey native and celebrity herself that the group would be singing before kick-off.

The performance went off without a hitch, which came two days after the chorus spent time performing on Super Bowl Boulevard in Times Square Friday, Jan. 31.
