MENDHAM, NJ — A Mendham Township police officer sprang into action when she noticed a fire had engulfed a home in a neighboring town this week.

On Wednesday morning, around 3:30 a.m., Mendham Township Officer Katrina Jenisch was on patrol when she spotted a house fire in Bernardsville on Hardscrabble Road, just over the Mendham border.

Jenisch noted that the fire seemed to have been "burning for some time." A photo of the engulfed home shows that the roof collapsed in the blaze.
