Mendham Gymnast Nabs National Gold

On the heels of an in the United States Association of Independent Gymnastics Clubs New Jersey State Championship, Mendham's Amelia Paone set off some early July 4th fireworks with another gold medal victory in the USAIGC National Championship in Florida. 

Paone's June 25 victory at the arena in Fort Lauderdale, Florida came in the form of a gold medal in the All-Around Championship for age 7 Cooper Division.

That medal joins the gold medals in balance beam and vault, a silver medal in floor excercise and a bronze in uneven bars that Paone picked up to take All-Around Gold with a score of 37.45.

Paone is part of the Rising Stars Gymnastics Team based in Randolph Gymnastics in Randolph and is coached by Mary Barisic. Gynastics has opened doors for Paone, who has competed with gymnasts from around the country and from as far away as Bermuda and South Africa.
