Mendham Library Announces America's 250th Anniversary Programs
A variety of speakers will present on topics ranging from the New Jersey militia to George Washington's leadership.
MENDHAM, NJ — The Mendham Township Library is celebrating America's 250th Anniversary with a series of themed events throughout the year. These programs will explore various aspects of the Revolutionary War and New Jersey's role in the conflict. All programs are free to attend, and registration is available through the library's website.
On April 7, at 7 p.m., John Dwyer will portray a Continental Army soldier. Dwyer will discuss the role of the New Jersey militia during the Revolutionary War. Historian Michael Gabriele will then explore the significance of New Jersey taverns during the War for Independence on May 11, at 1 p.m.
Michael Jesberger, known as Mr. US History, will present on June 30 at 7 p.m. His presentation will focus on George Washington's commanding presence, character, skill, and leadership. Local historian Joel Farkas will also lead a three-part lecture series on the Revolutionary War, beginning July 13, at 1 p.m. Each session will examine critical events, people, and places of the War for Independence.

John Dwyer returns on Aug. 4 at 7 p.m. to depict life as a Revolutionary War soldier. He will showcase uniforms, weapons, tools, and gear used by American soldiers. Later in the year, on Nov. 12, at 7 p.m., Michael Jesberger will share images of Revolutionary War veterans captured in early photography. Jesberger will return on Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m., to discuss firsthand accounts of Washington Crossing the Delaware and the Battle for Trenton.
The Mendham Township Library stated that more programs will be added to the schedule. Residents can visit www.mendhamtwplib.org for updated information on all events and to register for programs.
