Mendham Native Graduates From Colby College

Emma N. Beck earns degree in 2012 commencement.

Emma N. Beck of Mendham was one of 465 seniors who graduated from Colby College on May 20, receiving a bachelor of arts degree at the outdoor commencement in Waterville, Maine, where former British Prime Minister Tony Blair was the speaker.

Beck, the daughter of Christopher and Laurie Beck of Mendham, N.J., majored in geology. She is a graduate of Westminster School.

Commencement speaker Tony Blair urged members of the Class of 2012 to continue learning with humility, to maintain an open mind, and to serve others. "Never stop learning. Carry on. And have the humility always to know that you can learn more," he said.

Colby President William D. Adams handed a diploma to Beck and each of the graduates.
