Mendham Township Student Scores Spelling Bee Second

MENDHAM, NJ - Mendham Township fourth grader Sienna Shieh, a student in Lisa Lombardo’s Owl Class, scored second place in the District Spelling Bee of the New Jersey Federation of Women's Clubs.

The New Jersey Federation of Women's Club sponsors an annual spelling bee program, with women's clubs throughout the state hosting local events. In the Highland district, clubs located in the Denville – Rockaway area, Jefferson Township, Long Valley, Parsippany-Troy Hills, Somerset Hills, Sparta, and the West Morris area sent their winners to a district spelling bee held in Rockaway on Feb. 8.

Out of that contest first-place winner Krishil Patel, Medha Vavilala, and Shieh continue to the 2020 State Spelling Bee which will be held at New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs (NJSFWC) Headquarters on Saturday, March 7.
