Mendham Twp. Firefighter Hospitalized, Community Rallying To Help

Evan "Buzzy" Thomas has served community for decades.

MENDAM TWP. - For years Evan “Buzzy” Thomas has given his all to the Mendham Township community.

And now it’s time to return the favor.

Thomas is currently in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit at Morristown Medical Center, and a GoFundMe page has been established to help with medical bills and other expenses.

Thomas has been a firefighter in town for more than four decades and serves as the Office of Emergency Management Coordinator.

A fundraising goal of $10,000 has been established and as of 10 a.m. Wednesday more than $2,700 had been raised in just nine hours.

The fundraising page reads:

To those that know or don’t know, Evan “Buzzy” Thomas is currently in critical condition in ICU in Morristown Medical Center. He is a well known and respected man in the community. He has been a firefighter in Mendham for 40+yrs and an OEM coordinator. He is always willing to drop everything and help his fellow community members, and now is the time to help him.

Details around his hospitalization have not been released by the family.
