Mendham Twp. School Board Earns Prestigious State Certification

MENDHAM TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Mendham Township School District Board of Education has earned a statewide certification recognizing its training, governance, and focus on student achievement.

The board recently received the Carole E. Larsen Master Board Certification from the New Jersey School Boards Association during a Morris County School Boards Association meeting at Montville Township High School.

The certification is awarded to school boards that complete advanced training and demonstrate a focus on student success. To qualify, a certified board must earn 26 board credits within a two-year period.

Mendham Township board members have participated in training covering ethics, policy governance, finance and budgeting, communications, community engagement, goal setting, parliamentary procedure and board member roles and responsibilities, district officials said.

“We are thrilled to receive this certification,” Board of Education President Elisabeth Carrino-Tamasi said. “Every board member is dedicated to helping all students in the district obtain academic success.”

Carrino-Tamasi said the board plans to continue focusing on helping students reach their educational goals.

Superintendent Dr. Salvatore Constantino also congratulated the board on the recognition.

“It is exciting to see their efforts be recognized and celebrate their commitment to supporting our schools, community and, most importantly, our students,” Constantino said.

The Carole E. Larsen Master Board Certification is named for the former New Jersey School Boards Association president and recognizes boards that have gone beyond basic certification requirements through continued training and board development.
