'Mendies' to Honor Mendham Minutemen 1975 Championship Football Team

Team members invited to be inducted into Mendham Hall of Fame.

Mendham is looking for a few good men.

Those men have a claim to fame in town, and one that has stood the test of time 40 years later.

The 1975 Mendham Minutemen football team, which won a state title, is being honored at the annual Mendies Awards in April, and the organizers are hoping to notify as many of the team members as possible so they can be in attendance.

The champs were selected as this year’s group honoree for the ceremony, which will be held April 10 at the Sisters of Christian Charity on Bernardsville Road in Mendham.

The Mendies are sponsored by Mendham TV and designed to recognize the best of the Mendhams, bringing residents of the township and borough together for a night of celebration.

Under the direction of Bill Carpluk, the Minutemen nearly stopped the decades-long title drought in 2013, as they marched their way to the state title game during a Cinderella season, only to lose to Phillipbsurg.

Anyone who was part of the 1975 championship team is urged to contact the Mendham Borough Clerk’s Office at 973-543-7152, ext. 15.
