Black River Open Friday, Other Chester Schools Closed
Black River Middle School has power, but Dickerson and Bragg still are in the dark.

The downed pole outside of Black River Middle School has been cleared and the building is powered up. However, the same cannot be said for elementary schools Dickerson and Bragg. So for now, the Middle School will open on delay, according to a message from Superintendent Christina VanWoert.
At this time, Black River Middle School has power. Therefore we will have a delayed opening for our Black River Middle School students tomorrow. Later this afternoon or early this evening, we will post on our web-site updates on the bus routes. Many roads are still blocked and are not safe to travel. If you live on a road that is not safe to travel by bus, we will need you to drive your child to and from school. Please try and car pool. If you cannot get your child to school because of the roads, his/her absence will be excused. Remember safety comes firs.
We have also made accomodations to house our fifth grade students in the cafeteria at BRMS from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. There will be lunch provided but we cannot provide busing. So, you will need to drive your child to and from school. If you cannot do so safely, please stay home and your child's absence will be excused.

At this point, JCP&L has given us a target of midnight Sunday for power to be restored to Dickerson and Bragg Schools. We will continue to assess the situation throughout the weekend and send another Alert on Sunday to advise you of any new developments. We are also investigating ways to house more of our Bragg students at BRMS if necessary.
