New Kid on the Block: Streets Cafe to Open in Chester

It’s completely different but altogether familiar.

Streets Café, Chester newest business set to open Wednesday, Jan. 7, is everything its predecessor wasn’t, and that’s a good thing.

Chef and owner Brian Kaden, of Mendham, will open the doors to his new venture at the Streets of Chester shopping mall and offer customers an array of lunchtime foods, from gourmet salads to focaccia sandwiches and lettuce wraps. The prices are just as tasty, in the $8 to $10 range, with many meals including drinks and a side.

Kaden, who has worked in the food service industry for three decades, said the restaurant had to bring something new to the table. After a falling out with his former partner, who ran the Iron Street Grill, Kaden knew it was time for a change.

“I had to get rid of the trucks,” he said of the adornment that was a staple in the last two restaurants in the same space. “It’s warm here, it’s nice. It’s a cozy café feeling and completely different than what was here before.”

Kaden said he noticed a pattern in the previous restaurant showing most customers came in for lunch, so he’ll be focusing the business on that time of day. Hours of service are Wednesday and Thursday, 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

It’s not just sandwiches and salads, either, with soups and omelets up for grabs as well, and a full cappuccino bar.

Kaden is hoping to reach the grab-and-go consumer base as well, offering Express Online ordering where customers can pay in person or online. Kaden said he’s also going to launch a family meal program where customers can bring home a chicken parmigiana dinner or other offerings for the entire family.

Streets Café will hold a soft opening Wednesday, Jan. 7 and is located in the Streets of Chester shopping mall on Rt. 206 in Chester. Find out more about the restaurant here.
