NJ Health Chief OKs Sale of St. Clare's, Hackettstown Hospitals
Attorney General's approval all that is needed for full transaction, report says.

The sale of two Morris County-area hospital facilities to separate organizations has been approved by the New Jersey Health Commissioner, bringing the transactions one step closer to completion.
Hackettstown Regional Medical Center in Hackettstown, a 111-bed facility, and St. Clare’s Health System in Denville, a 306-bed medical center, were both given approval for purchase by AHS Hospital Corporation and Prime Healthcare Services of California, respectively, by Commissioner Mary O’Down, njherald.com reported.
AHS Hospital Corporation is part of the Atlantic Health System, which owns multiple northern New Jersey facilities, including Morristown Medical Center, Newton Hospital, and Overlook Hospital.

The only remaining step is an approval by the Attorney General’s Office, the report said. As part of the approval by O’Down, the facilities must retain all 2,700 combined employees.
The acquisition cost for St. Clare’s entire system, including satellite and affiliated offices, came to more than $107 million, the report said.
