October In Chester: Fall Fun, Festivals & More

Fall is officially here in Chester, and there’s no shortage of ways to make the most of it. From festivals and farmers markets to pumpkin patches, live music and other seasonal fun, October brings plenty of reasons to get out and enjoy what’s happening close to home.

Here are some events and activities happening in and around Chester this October.

Chester PTO Food Truck & Music Festival

When: Sunday, Oct. 18, 11 a.m.–6 p.m.
Where: Chubb Park, 290 W. Main St., Chester, NJ

Come hungry to the Chester PTO Food Truck & Music Festival, a family-friendly day of food and entertainment benefiting the Chester School District PTO. The festival will feature 16 gourmet food trucks, live music, vendors, kids' activities and adult beverages, with attendees welcome to bring chairs, blankets and leashed dogs. Admission is $5 at the door and free for children under 5; attendees are also encouraged to bring a nonperishable food donation.

West End Farmers Market

When: Sundays through Oct. 25, 9:30 a.m.–1 p.m.
Where: West End Farmers Market, 98 Main St., Hackettstown, NJ

Pick up fresh, locally produced food at the West End Farmers Market, held Sunday mornings through the end of its season on Oct. 25. The Hackettstown market supports local family farms and vendors, with offerings including fresh produce, eggs, meats, breads, baked goods and more. The market is held rain or shine behind Dollar General and Czig Meister Brewing Company.

Harvest Moon Nights At Alstede Farms

When: Fridays and Saturdays throughout October, 6–10 p.m.
Where: Alstede Farms, 1 Alstede Farms Lane, Chester, NJ

Experience Alstede Farms after dark during Harvest Moon Nights, held on Friday and Saturday evenings throughout October. Admission includes moonlit tractor-drawn hayrides, a corn maze to explore by flashlight, campfires, live entertainment and access to pumpkin picking, with pumpkins, seasonal food, treats and hard cider available for an additional charge. Tickets are required, with last admission at 8:30 p.m.

FoodeesFest

When: Friday, Oct. 23, 1–9 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 24, 11 a.m.–9 p.m.; Sunday, Oct. 25, 11 a.m.–7 p.m.
Where: Rockaway Townsquare, 301 Mount Hope Ave., Rockaway, NJ

A short drive from Long Valley, FoodeesFest will bring a weekend of food and shopping to Rockaway Townsquare. The family-friendly festival features more than 40 food vendors along with dozens of crafters and artisans, with free on-site parking available. Attendees can register for free tickets in advance, though registration is not required to partake in the fun.

Riamede Farm Fall Festival

When: Wednesdays through Mondays, through Nov. 1; 9 a.m.–5:30 p.m. (closes 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 1)
Where: Riamede Farm, 122 Oakdale Road, Chester, NJ

Riamede Farm's Fall Festival in Chester offers apple and pumpkin picking, hay wagon rides, a corn trail, seasonal treats, lawn games and plenty of fall photo opportunities. Weekends bring additional activities, including live music, farm animals, an apple slingshot and concessions, with the lineup changing from week to week. Admission is ticketed for ages 3 and older; produce and select activities cost extra.
