Officials Celebrate CCM’s New Morristown Location

Ribbon cutting and open house draw community to high-tech facility .

The County College of Morris Board of Trustees hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house at the college’s new Schuyler Place, Morristown, location on Jan. 27.

The facility was provided by the Morris County Board of Freeholders and consists of more than 5,000 square feet of classroom and administrative office space. The new location also features six high-tech classrooms, including two computer labs.

 “We are grateful to the Freeholders for providing this space and for the outstanding renovations, “said CCM President Edward J. Yaw.  “We have received wonderful feedback from students and faculty about this facility.”

The ribbon cutting ceremony was attended by college and Morris County officials and afterwards the local business community was invited to an open house to tour the facility.

The focus of CCM–Morristown/Schuyler Place is to provide the Morristown area with greater access to higher education courses and professional development training in the areas of information technology, health care, business and English proficiency.

Each of the classrooms includes permanently installed audio-visual technology consisting of an overhead LCD projector, screen, ceiling-mounted speakers and wall-mounted remote controls. The classroom also contains a high-tech instructor-presentation lectern with a computer and the latest software, a 20-inch monitor, a DVD player and a CD burner. Internet access and an ELMO visualizer/document camera that allows teachers and students to display and project objects are also provided.

The college also plans to forge more partnerships with the county, municipal officials, businesses and cultural communities in the area.  The Morristown chapter of SCORE has already partnered with CCM to provide affordable one-on-one business coaching, workshops and training sessions, along with support for entrepreneurs to assist them with growing their businesses.
