
A homecoming, a dream come true and an exciting challenge are just a few of the words Michele Stanton uses when describing her new position as principal of the in Chester. Stanton replaces , who resigned to take the .
"The opportunity to be the educational leader of Bragg Intermediate School is amazing. Children in third through fifth grades are excited about learning and are developing into true students which is exciting to watch and influence. The parents in Chester, and the community at large, are interested in what is best for their children and are our partners in their education," Stanton said. " The entire staff is an incredible group of educators who are open to new ideas and are focused on helping each student learn. I couldn’t ask for a better group to work with and for."
Stanton is also aware of the pressure in replacing Johnson, who made many strides in his tenure in Chester.

"Everyone knew when Dr. Johnson was around, he and his personality are larger than life. I have always been part of the action, but now need to make myself more noticeable," Stanton said. "Also, Dr. Johnson implemented quite a few new and exciting programs in Bragg, for both students and teachers. To be able to continue this streak of innovative and fun programs will be challenging."
While mindful of what Johnson has accomplished, Stanton has her own plans for Bragg.

"I plan on starting a blog in order to keep everyone apprised of the events and happenings in Bragg and have student 'Guest Reporters' to chime in as well. Also, we will be starting a Bulldog’s PAWS initiative, where PAWS stands for Positive Actions Will Succeed," Stanton said. "Everyone will be working to instill, highlight and applaud members of the school community who use Positive Actions to lead them to success. These actions can include doing all their work, keeping their work space organized, and being a good friend."
While Stanton has enjoyed all of her roles as a member of the Chester School District, this new position has already been better than she could have imagined.
"I cannot express how excited I am – this community has a very special place in my heart so I am thrilled to be returning to Bragg. The positive response I’ve had from staff and parents has added to the pleasure," Stanton said. "The first day of school is always one of my favorite days of the year, but this one will be extra special."
