Police Pursue Car Thieves In Mendham

MENDHAM, NJ - The Mendham Township Police are looking for a pair of car thieves that led them on a chase early Monday morning, authorities said.

According to the Mendham Township Police Department, officer on routine patrol on Brockden Drive encountered a vehicle proceeding slowly up the roadway. When he pulled up to the vehicle two black males took off on foot abandoning the vehicle, which had been stolen, police said.

Additional units responded out to the scene and the Brookside area was searched including utilizing multiple K-9's. Later it was determined a vehicle was stolen in the same time frame on the North end of Cold Hill Road and later spotted in another incident in a neighboring jurisdiction and both of these incidents are under investigation, police said.

Mendham Township Committeemember Amalia Duarte expressed appreciation to the officers for their efforts.

"Thank you for the update and for your work in trying to apprehend suspects," she posted to social media. "And, I can't believe I slept through all of this happening, right on my street."
