Power Out for 772 Mendham, Chester Residents

Some 772 residences are being affected by power outages in the Mendhams and Chester as of 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to Jersey Central Power & Light's outage map.

The energy provider's website is showing 663 residences in the Chesters are in the dark, with an additional 102 in Mendham Township, and seven in Mendham Borough. 

There is currently no time table of when power will be restored, according to JCP&L representative Stan Prater.

"It's definitely weather-related and we have a lot of secondary wires down," Prater said. "Right now, though, we don't have any (Estimated Time of Restoration) to report."

Praters said some 4,200 throughout Morris County were in the dark, while more than 14,000 across the company's coverage area are without electricity.
