Regional School Board Swears In Newest Member

Lisa Woodring was sworn in as the newest member of the West Morris Regional School Board during its Monday meeting.

Woodring, who represents Washington Township on the board, did not speak much during the meeting. Instead, she said she wanted to first get an understanding of the flow of the sessions.

Having sat in the audience during these board meetings for many years, Woodring said she doesn’t mind being on the other side of the table.

“It’s kind of nice being able to speak when you want, not when they tell me I can,” she said.

As for immediate goals on the board, Woodring didn’t mention any. However, she said she is “looking forward to getting work done.”

Woodring fills a seat vacated by former board president Cristen Forrester, who officially resigned from her position on the board in absentia on Aug. 20 due to relocation.

She was selected over fellow Washington Township resident Steve Williams on Sept. 10 by a 6-2 vote after both submitted applications for the position and fielded interview questions from the other eight board members.
