Snow Update For Mendhams, Chesters: Thursday

MENDHAM, NJ — Roads are closed and homes are without power after the second nor'easter in one week dumped nearly a foot of snow on Morris County. Residents across the Mendhams and Chesters are digging themselves out from this latest snow storm. See local updates here:
Mendham Township
The following roads are closed due to downed trees:

- Mt. Pleasant
- Mountainside
- Hilltop Circle
- Jane Terrace
- Old Orchard Road is closed due to downed trees with live wires.
Please be cautious of stranded vehicles located on Cold Hill near Briarwood and on Ironia Road in the S curve. Don't get out of your vehicle and try to remove wires.
"Our DPW crews are actively working to push snow to widen the roads. We recognize this may result in additional snow at the end of your driveway however it is imperative that we get all roads opened as wide as possible," Mendham Township said.

We are assessing the need for opening an overnight shelter in the Township for residents. If you need shelter tonight please contact Town Hall by calling 973-543-4555 x210 and let our staff know.
Mendham Borough
The library is open today, Thursday March 8. The amazing DPW has cleared our lot and shoveled our sidewalk! We have heat, power, internet and lots of books!
The following roads are still closed, as of 11:18 a.m.:
- Emery Avenue
- Prospect Street
- Mountainside Road (East) – Mountainside accessible from Cold Hill up to 60 Mountainside
- Franklin Road by Leddell Rd.
Chester Township
Today, March 8th, the Chester Township Municipal Building will be opening on a 2-hr delay. If anyone needs to come by and warm up or charge their electronics, we will open at 11:00am.
Residents, if you have to drive today, please be aware of road closures, and downed trees/wires. DPW crews in Chester and neighboring communities are working hard to make the roads passable.
JCP&L work crews are on their way to the following:
- Cherry Tree Lane
- Pottersville Road
- Lamerson Road
- E. Fox Chase
The following roadways are closed:
- Pleasant Hill near Flanders – low hanging cable wire
- Hillside at Pleasant Hill- Wires down
JCP&L Outage Updates
Here are the power outages in the area as of 8:56 a.m.:
- Chester Township: 1,002
- Chester Borough: 158
- Mendham Township: 953
- Mendham Borough: 606
There currently is not an estimated time of restoration. JCP&L has resumed work on getting power back, and the homes who have been without the longest have top priority, they said.
If your power has not been restored please verify or re-report your outage to JCP&L at 1-888-544-4877 or by their mobile app. You can also text "Out" to 544487, you will need your account number to register. Once registered text "Stat" to 544487 to receive current estimated update restoration times.
