Storm Updates From Mendham Twp Mayor

The township set up a new emergency communications Facebook page.

MENDHAM, NJ — The following is a letter to Mendham Township residents from Mayor Rich Diegnan:

Good Morning Mendham Township Residents:

I hope all are safe and well. At this time, Mendham Township continues to be in recovery mode from the Nor’easter that hit our town last week. Our Police Department, Fire and First Aid Squads, Department of Public Works, Office of Emergency Management and our Municipal Staff have been working very hard to clear roads, coordinate power restoration with JCP&L, communicate with state and county officials, staff warming stations, and provide assistance to our residents. On behalf of the Mendham Township Committee, I want to thank all of the Mendham Township employees and our volunteers for their hard work. It has certainly been a team effort and I am extremely grateful for your service.

As many of you have heard, we are bracing for a new Nor’easter which is forecasted to hit Mendham Township this evening. We are working furiously to get all the roads reopened and power lines restored before the storm so that our DPW can plow our streets. The good news is that extra JCP&L utility crews from out of state have arrived and crews are in Mendham Township addressing our issues. All of our schools were restored to full power last night and were open today.

We have been communicating updates with our residents through social media and telephone messaging over the last few days. In an effort to keep everyone up to date, we have established a new Facebook page entitled “Mendham Township Storm and Emergency Notifications”. We will ask that our Township organizations post important information to this central location to keep everyone aware of current developments.
