Lower back problems have become very common among Americans. These problems can be caused due to jobs that require heavy-lifting activities, or to jobs that require sitting for long hours. Since most jobs fit in one of those categories, you need to learn to take better care of your back to avoid health problems. Even if your job requires you to do heavy-lifting you can still prevent back problems, by exercising and doing other things that will keep your back in good shape.
Exercising can help you prevent back problems; if you have strong muscles, you will be less likely to hurt yourself. However, it is important that you exercise correctly; if you do weight-lifting make sure you do the exercises the right way, otherwise you could also hurt yourself. Exercising is also good for people with back problems, if they follow doctor’s instructions when doing exercise, they should feel better. It is important that you learn to do lifting the right way, which means you need to learn to use your legs instead of your back. If you have to work sitting for long periods of time, you should learn a few stretch exercises. Then, you should do them a few times during work; just take one or two minutes to stretch your back, and to take some tension off it. Getting a massage every once in a while will also help you feel better.
