Middlesex Police Officers Honored For Lifesaving Rescues, Major Investigations

The department presented Life Saving Awards, Unit Citations and Chief's Achievement Awards at Tuesday's Mayor and Council Meeting.

MIDDLESEX, NJ - The Middlesex Borough Police Department recognized several officers and detectives at Tuesday night's Mayor and Council Meeting for exceptional service across a range of incidents over the past year.

Life Saving Awards

Officer Marc Arancio and Officer Anthony Painchaud each received a Life Saving Award for their actions on Jan. 2, when they successfully resuscitated an unresponsive male with no pulse.

Officer April Menditto and Officer Brandon Stout each received a Life Saving Award for a separate incident on March 9, when they resuscitated a second unresponsive male with no pulse.

Unit Citations

Detective Scott Mulford, Officer Bryan Rodrigues and Detective Paul Cerreto each received a Unit Citation for their investigative work solving an arson case that caused more than $500,000 in damage to Borough playground equipment on May 3, 2025.

Officer Rodrigues and Detective Cerreto also received a second Unit Citation for solving multiple commercial burglary investigations stemming from a July 9, 2025 incident that resulted in more than $7,000 in reported losses.

Chief's Achievement Award

Captain Thomas Falk and Lt. Sean Flanagan each received the Chief's Achievement Award for completing the requirements of the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police law enforcement accreditation process.

“These awards reflect the courage, professionalism, investigative skill, and commitment to public service demonstrated daily by the men and women of the Middlesex Borough Police Department,” the department said. “We congratulate all of the recipients and thank them for their continued dedication to keeping our community safe.”
