MIDDLESEX, NJ — The Middlesex Borough Police Department joined forces with the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office Counterterrorism Unit and the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness on Wednesday to visit local businesses and houses of worship throughout the borough, educating community members on how to recognize and report signs of terrorism-related suspicious activity.
The outreach effort is part of a proactive approach to community safety that police say strengthens partnerships between law enforcement and local institutions. By working directly with businesses, faith-based organizations and residents, officials aim to improve communication and ensure that suspicious activity is identified and reported promptly.
"These proactive outreach efforts are an important part of keeping our community safe," the department said. "Strengthening partnerships with local businesses, faith-based organizations, and residents encourages awareness, improves communication, and helps ensure suspicious activity is recognized and reported promptly."
Residents who observe suspicious activity are asked to report it immediately by calling the Middlesex Borough Police Department at 732-356-1900 ext. 0, or by calling 866-4-SAFE-NJ. Dial 9-1-1 for emergencies.
