Community Leaders Join Volunteer Board as Y Expands Impact, Strengthens Connections Across Shore Region

YMCA of the Jersey Shore (the Y) has appointed five new members to its board of directors, adding community-minded leaders who will help shape the organization’s future and expand opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds.

The Y’s 56-member volunteer board plays a vital role in shaping the organization’s future by setting strategic direction, advancing its mission and championing philanthropic support, so everyone has the opportunity to thrive at the nonprofit.

“We welcome our newest board members at a time of tremendous momentum for our Y,” said Chief Volunteer Officer Michael A. Wright, who leads the board. “As we continue expanding our impact across the Jersey Shore region, we remain committed to creating stronger communities where individuals and families feel connected, supported and empowered.”

Community Leaders Join Board

The new board members were elected to three-year terms at the Y’s annual retreat June 3 and April board meeting. They are:

The Y has been on a path of growth since it merged in 2019 with the YMCA of Western Monmouth County and began managing operations at the Ocean County YMCA. It now serves over 60,000 members.

“With the leadership and dedication of our new board members, we are continuing to build a healthier, more connected community,” said President and CEO Laurie Goganzer. “Together, we are developing spaces where people of all ages and backgrounds can come together, build relationships and access the support they need, ultimately establishing a stronger, more unified future for all.”
