Middlesex Borough OEM Launches Cadet Program For Local Teens

MIDDLESEX, NJ — The Middlesex Borough Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is inviting local teens to join its Cadet Program, a hands-on youth initiative designed to prepare the next generation of community leaders in emergency management, public safety, and community service.

Open to Middlesex Borough residents ages 14 to 18, the program provides participants with practical training in emergency response, disaster preparedness, first aid awareness, communication, teamwork, and the role of municipal government during emergencies. Cadets also gain experience supporting OEM activities at community events and public preparedness initiatives.

In addition to developing emergency management skills, the program emphasizes personal and family preparedness, leadership, responsibility, and civic engagement. Participants will learn about evacuation procedures, emergency communications, transition center operations, and other critical aspects of disaster readiness.

No prior experience is required to participate. Borough officials encourage teens with an interest in public service, emergency response, or community involvement to apply.
