MDIDLETOWN, NJ — Let's get ready to dine outside!
Once outdoor dining resumes this Monday, June 15, the following Middletown Township restaurants have been approved to offer outdoor eating and drinking. You might see some surprising local names on this list, like the Middletown Elks club in Belford!
Until now, many of these local favorites had not even had outdoor dining, but Middletown expedited and approved many of the requests it got — to help local small businesses.
"We have waived all fees and will review any request within seven days," said Middletown administrator Anthony Mercantante. "It is not as simple as saying 'all restaurants can just do outdoor dining.' We have to make sure it is done safely. For example, in some shopping centers there may be multiple restaurants. Is there room for all of them to have outdoor dining. Who decides how to carve up that space? Do they have insurance coverage for outdoor dining?"
