MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Republicans Ryan Clarke and Morganne Dudzinski are the unofficial winners in this year's Middletown Township Committee race, beating off a challenge from two Democrats Shawn Wallach and Jeremy Seideman.
These are unofficial results. Not all mail-in ballots have been counted, and the vote still has to be certified by the county clerk.
But it appears Republicans were able to keep their hold on the all-GOP Middletown Township Committee. All voting districts are now in, and from the county clerk:
Republican Ryan Clarke: 12,457 (26.62%)
Republican Morganne Dudzinski: 12,292 (26.27%)
Democrat Shawn Wallach: 11,054 (23.63%)
Democrat Jeremy Seideman: 10,943 (23.39%)
Total votes cast: 46,789
And here are the school board results. Three candidates ran for three seats; all the candidates said they were against closing schools last year.
Bernard "Bernie" Daus — 13,406 votes
Susan Henderson — 13,670 votes
Amanda Faryar — 13,245 votes
Current school board member Caterina Skalaski announced Tuesday she is running as a write-in candidate. She said many people asked her to run for re-election to the school board this year.
749 write-in votes were submitted.
