Middletown Man Dragged While Trying To Prevent Car Theft
A Middletown homeowner tried to stop his Land Rover from being stolen last Saturday, May 9 and was dragged alongside the vehicle.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — As Patch has reported, Middletown, Holmdel, Deal and other towns in Monmouth County were hit by a string of car thieves last Saturday, May 9.
And in Middletown a homeowner tried to stop his car from being stolen, and was dragged by the suspects alongside the vehicle. He sustained a non-life-threatening injury.
Middletown police received a 911 call at 5:37 p.m. Saturday, May 9 from Windermere Road in the Lincroft section of the township. The homeowner became aware of the theft while it was
in progress, and attempted to stop the suspect by pulling on the driver's side door.

The suspect then accelerated and dragged the victim, who sustained a non-life-threatening injury. The suspect is described as possibly being a white male, wearing a black ski mask, black hooded sweatshirt, and black athletic pants with a white stripe down the sides. The stolen vehicle is a white 2019 Land Rover Range Rover.
The suspect and an accomplice drove into the neighborhood in a dark blue Mercedes Benz two door convertible and both vehicles fled from the scene following the theft.

There is a possibility that the suspects may be involved in other similar incidents in other jurisdictions as well, said Middletown police. That same afternoon, a homeowner stopped someone trying to steal their car in Deal. Later that same evening, May 9, several cars were broken into and rifled through in Holmdel.
"The crime of auto theft is, unfortunately, a widespread and inter-jurisdictional problem that has been occurring in numerous towns throughout Monmouth County," said Middletown police.
