Advanced Writers Wanted for Local Creative Writing Workshop
Writer and author Laura Zinn Fromm will teach creative writing in Millburn and at the JCC Manhattan.

Laura Zinn Fromm, the author of the Sweet Survival: Tales of Cooking & Coping, has been teaching advanced fiction and creative non-fiction workshops in New York for seven years, and in her Millburn home for two. Winter classes in Millburn are now open for registration. Two spots open in workshop that starts Monday, January 26 and runs through Monday, April 20. Class meets from 12-2 p.m.
Every Monday afternoon for ten weeks, advanced writers will have the opportunity to share their work, receive written critiques, and discuss assigned readings by such authors as Lydia Davis, Phil Klay Alice Munro, Frank O’Connor, George Orwell, Edith Pearlman, Ron Rash, Abigail Thomas, and Tobias Wolf, among others.
Students can submit short stories, essays and/or sections of novels and memoirs.

“Both fiction and creative non-fiction involve strong story lines, memorable characters and lively dialogue,” says Fromm. “We will migrate between the two genres.”

Fromm holds an MFA in fiction writing from Columbia University and teaches fiction and creative non-fiction through the New York Writers Workshop at the JCC Manhattan. She has also taught at Columbia and Montclair State. A former editor at Business Week magazine, she is a winner of the Clarion Award and the Newspaper Guild’s Page One Award for Labor Reporting. Her work has been published in The New York Times, Business Week, Huffington Post, Ducts.org, New Jersey Life & Leisure, and Wellesley magazine, among other other places.
