MILLBURN, NJ — Visitors heading to Taylor Park will need to use a different entrance while construction is underway.

The entrance to the Taylor Park rose garden from Millburn Avenue is "closed until further notice," according to a township announcement posted Wednesday.

The gateway project has begun, and the entrance will remain blocked during construction, township officials said. All pedestrians and commuters must use Whittingham Terrace until the work is complete.

The township said the Taylor Park Gateway Project will improve the appearance of the park's Millburn Avenue entrance while incorporating ideas from the Downtown Area Vision Plan.

People entering Taylor Park can instead use the entrance at Lot 12, identified in the announcement as Millburn Deli, or enter from Main Street.

The township said the sidewalk at the rose garden entrance has been removed. Tree protection has also been installed around the historic elm tree located at the entrance.

Officials did not provide an anticipated reopening date in the announcement. The township thanked residents for their "patience and understanding" while the work to improve Millburn continues.

Residents can find additional information about the project from the township's website.
