SHORT HILLS, New Jersey (March 22, 2012) – Short Hills management-side employment law firm, Nukk-Freeman & Cerra, P.C., was awarded the prestigious Platinum Award for Private Sector Law Firm from the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association (NJWLA) at last night’s Women’s Initiative and Leaders in the Law Gala at Liberty Science Center in Newark, New Jersey. The award, usually presented to an individual, was presented to the entire Firm by the NJWLA, recognizing Nukk-Freeman & Cerra’s significant contributions to the advancement of women in the legal profession. The NJWLA is an independent association of NJ women lawyers and has a long and distinguished tradition of promoting the social, political and professional interests of women in the law. Also this week, New Jersey Super Lawyers magazine announced the selection of ten (out of eighteen) Nukk-Freeman & Cerra attorneys to their prestigious lists including four Partners in the “Top 50 Women” attorneys in New Jersey. Nukk-Freeman & Cerra is the only firm in NJ to boast four attorneys to this esteemed list. Township resident and Firm Co-Founder, Katherin Nukk-Freeman (photo attached), was one of the four Partners at her firm selected by New Jersey Super Lawyers magazine as one of the “Top 50 Women” attorneys in New Jersey and one of the “Top 100 Lawyers” in the State. Katherin Nukk-Freeman lives in Short Hills with her husband Tim Freeman and their three children.
Nukk-Freeman & Cerra’s founding Principals, Suzanne M. Cerra (Basking Ridge, NJ) and Katherin Nukk-Freeman (Short Hills, NJ), launched their management-side employment law firm in 2006 after leaving Partnerships at prestigious New Jersey law firms. The Firm differentiates itself by providing clients with proactive employment law solutions aimed at avoiding litigation, while partnering with its clients to optimize their business goals. At the core of Nukk-Freeman & Cerra’s unique internal business model is a supportive and team-oriented culture that values and rewards attorneys based on much more than the billable hour. The Firm’s approach has not only allowed it to attract and retain a team of top-notch attorneys, but also has contributed to its dramatic growth (from its two founding Partners in 2006 to a current total of 28 employees). In its short tenure, Nukk-Freeman & Cerra has been ranked in Chambers USA as one of the Top Labor & Employment Law Firms in New Jersey, named to the Inc. 5000 list in recognition of its tremendous growth, and a majority of its attorneys have been listed in New Jersey’s Super Lawyers. The Firm also has received several awards and accolades in recognition of its unique culture and flexible work environment.
Nukk-Freeman & Cerra continues to vigorously advocate for all women, counseling other law firms and Women-Owned Businesses (WBEs) on the benefits of a team-focused workplace model. As a member of The Women Presidents' Organization (WPO) and the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), the Partners share their business and personal expertise with other women executives and WBEs to create and ensure successful ventures. Dedicated to the economic empowerment of women attorneys, the founding Partners are committed to creating a Firm that empowers their employees to be not only exceptional contributors professionally, but also exceptional parents, family members, and leaders in the community.
