Now What?
My first post for the Millburn-Short Hills Patch, where we discover the danger that lurks at the intersection of Millburn Ave and Dunkin' Donuts.
About a year ago, I started my own blog - www.IraSez.com. Yes I know, just what the world needs, another blogger. This all came about because some of my friends encouraged me to expand upon my Facebook posts, especially those where I rant about the little things in life that get under my skin, and there's plenty of that.
The other day, I got an email that the Millburn-Short Hills Patch was looking for folks to blog on their website and I thought "why not." I live in town, I work town, I very often play in town and there's plenty of stuff that goes on in town which I have already put to good use and I'm sure there will be plenty more.
This morning as I walked from my car to my office, I was thinking what should be the topic of my very first Millburn-Short Hills Patch blog when the moment struck. Well actually, it nearly ran me over. If you know Millburn Avenue then you know where Dunkin' Donuts is and where the municipal parking lot comes out onto Millburn Avenue. This morning I nearly got hit by the person driving out of that lot because drivers just don't pay attention to the pedestrians on the sidewalk. If they even bother to look up, they only thing they look for are the cars on the street. Unfortunately, the driver of this particular vehicle took off before I could do anything about it, which usually amounts to me banging on their window and giving them a piece of my mind. So the next time you see someone on Millburn Avenue politely discussing (note the dripping sarcasm) how to drive cross a pedestrian sidewalk with the driver of that car, stop and say hello. And feel free to bang on the car windows with me.
