Brookside Drive Remains Closed

The road through South Mountain Reservation could be closed for several days.

Brookside Drive through South Mountain Reservation remains closed on Wednesday and could remain closed for several days.

County officials shut the road between Glen Avenue and South Orange Avenue on Tuesday to remove a tree on the road. Millburn Police Capt. James Miller, public information officer, said there are wires and trees down throughout the road that need to be removed and fixed. The road could remain closed for several days.

No problems were reported Wednesday morning because of the heavy rain that moved through the area between 9:30-10:30 a.m. The National Weather Service issued a urban flooding advisory until 1 p.m. for the heavy rains that could bring a rate of one-inch per hour. Rain was causing ponding on some roads in Millburn-Short Hills, but no roads had been closed because of flooding.
