Christ Church in Short Hills to Observe Ash Wednesday with Three Services and Ashes-to-Go

Christ Church in Short Hills invites the community to observe Ash Wednesday on February 18, 2026, with worship services throughout the day and the offering of Ashes-to-Go for those unable to attend a full service.
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a sacred season of reflection, repentance, and renewal in the Christian tradition. It is a solemn day of penitence as worshipers remember their mortality and turn their hearts toward God in prayer.
Christ Church will offer the imposition of ashes at three services:
8:30 am – Morning Prayer with Imposition of Ashes
12:00 pm – Spoken Holy Eucharist with Imposition of Ashes
7:00 pm – Choral Eucharist with Imposition of Ashes
A livestream of the 7:00 pm service will be available through the church’s website.
For those who cannot attend a service, the Rev. Bowie Snodgrass, Rector of Christ Church in Short Hills, will offer Ashes-to-Go from 8:00–9:00 am in the circle drive outside the church. This brief outdoor offering includes prayer and the imposition of ashes for commuters and community members seeking to mark the day.
Christ Church in Short Hills is located at 66 Highland Avenue in Short Hills, New Jersey. Founded in 1882, the parish is part of the Episcopal Diocese of Newark and the worldwide Anglican Communion.
