Earthquake's Tremors Felt in Short Hills
A Morris Turnpike office building was evacuated when employees there felt the shaking.

Tremors from an earthquake in Canada on Thursday were felt as far south as Camden County, and there was a report of shaking in Short Hills.
Millburn firefighters were at 830 Morris Turnpike between 2 and 3 p.m. on a report workers at the office building felt shaking. Batallion Chief Ed Wade, fire department public information officer, said the building had been evacuated when firefighters arrived as a precaution. Firefighters checked the building and the neighboring buildings for any problems.
There was no damage to the Morris Turnpike building, and the township's engineer and building engineer were on scene to make sure there were no structural problems.

Firefighters also went to the buildings on John F. Kennedy Parkway, including the Mall at Short Hills and the Hilton Short Hills, but there were no reports of shaking or problems there.
"It was just the one building that felt the shaking," Wade said.

He said he checked with the Essex County mutual aid coordinator about problems because of the earthquake and found out there had been reports as far south as Camden County.
