Essex County Synagogue Honored For Disability Inclusion

Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel congregants come from the South Orange, Maplewood, Livingston and Millburn areas.

Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel in South Orange was recently recognized as one of 27 Reform Jewish congregations from across North America that qualified as an “Exemplar Congregation” for inclusion of people with disabilities in congregational life.

The nominated congregations were recently honored with a certificate of merit from the Union for Reform Judaism during a ceremony in Orlando, Florida.

As an “Exemplar Congregation,” TSTI “serves as a mentor and resource to other Jewish communities seeking to expand their inclusion work.”
