Temple B'nai Abraham Remembers!
Every year Temple B'nai Abraham (TBA) observes Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) in several ways. This year Yom HaShoah falls on Thursday, April 19 when at 6:30 PM Temple B'nai Abraham will hold a service and an observance of this day of remembering. The day of remembrance was chosen by the Knesset in 1951, and is recognized by most Jews around the world. As every year, we will have a brief service led by the clergy, followed by a member of the congregation who has a Holocaust “story” of their own. Jerry Eben , TBA member will talk about the impact that the Holocaust had on his life. He will share his parents’ amazing stories of survival during the Shoah. All are welcome to attend. For information contact 973-994-2290 or visit the temple website at www.tbanj.org.

The TBA Men’s Club in conjunction with the Religious School’s Hey Class participated in preparing the Yom HaShoah candle project. They packed the yellow Yom HaShoah candles for distribution to the entire congregation for lighting in commemoration of those lost in Holocaust. The candles are mailed to each congregational family for lighting on Erev Yom HaShoah, Wednesday evening April 18. The candle's yellow wax and symbol depicting a Jewish star and strand of barbed wire serve to remind us of the yellow arm band which Jews were forced to wear during the Nazi regime. The photo on the candle showing youngsters departing a concentration camp emphasizes the importance of teaching our youth the lessons of the Holocaust and of remembering the six Million. As part of their curriculum, the Hey Class participates in a Holocaust studies program throughout the school year. .
