Highlights of Millburn Soccer Club's Weekend Ironbound Tournament
Scores and game replays of the March 19-20 Spring Warm-Up Action

The U-10 Millburn Heat dominated this weekend’s 2011 Ironbound Spring Warm-Up Tournament, winning all three of their games and outscoring their opponents 22-9.
In the first game, Millburn defeated the Montgomery Travelers SC Lions, 6-2. Scoring for the Heat were Jack Marx, Andrew Aronson and Joe Simon. Ramsey Little had a hat trick.
In the second game, Millburn defeated the Den of Lions Rebels 9-2 with the help of Aronson, Christian Clark, Sam Meyerowitz and Jack Meselsohn, who each scored two goals and Ramsay Little adding the single goal. Simon, Christian Clark, Marx, Zack Butter and Aronson each starred in goal.

In the final tournament game, the Heat won 7-5 over the Ironbound Tigers. Single goals from Meyerowitz, Brandon Krikorian, Marx, and two goals each from Meselsohn and Little, helped secure the win.
Throughout the tournament, the Heat had stellar defense from all of their players, especially Connor Klein, Butter and Zane Solender. Simon and Clark excelled in goal.

SATURDAY, MARCH 19
The Millburn Mystics U8 girls had a strong start to the spring travel season as well, defeating the Livingston Lynx 5-1 on Saturday. Jordyn Lipkin scored three goals, while Jessie Rievman and Samantha Rothman each scored one goal. Lizzie Kogan played strong in goal. Ella Singer played well on offense.
SUNDAY, MARCH 20
Two second-half goals by Romeo Ruiz led a 2-1 comeback win by the Meteors over the South Brunswick Fire. The goals were assisted by Sean Kline, Connor Kirkwood and Andrew Bernstein. There was strong defense throughout from Ryan Sullivan, Dan Sullivan, Enric Adillon and Will Elder.
Alex Flaum and Charlie Levison tallied goals for the Cobras in their 2-0 win over the Berkeley Heights Blitz this past Sunday. William Graff, Filip Cakulev, Josh Baum and Evan Fleisig turned in solid, all-around play for the Cobras.
The Flash opened its season by defeating the West Windsor Strikers, 4-3. Melissa Gates scored twice, and Essie Pasternak and Anna Nesser each added a goal. Virginia Barney, Lauren Oxley and Grace Mayo had assists. Emma Hou, Emily Mester and Gioia Basile provided outstanding defensive support to seal the victory.
The Millburn Missiles lost a 2-1 decision to the Monroe Township Vipers in Monroe Township. Tarun Mittal scored the lone Missile goal on a beautiful pass from Brandon Hersh. Kyle Jacobs and Will Maddox starred for the Missiles.
The Piscataway Lady Eagles defeated the Millburn Jaguars 1-0, though Alexandra Kirshenbaum in goal, and Jordan Hsu and Emily Brochin on defense, were stars for the Jaguars.
The Piranhas dropped a 1-0 game at Monroe Township, with Ella Parlavecchio, Alyssa Levy and Cara Flyer leading the solid defense, while Dani Samuelson and Samie Haber stood out on offense.
The Millburn Braves (U11) lost to the East Brunswick Gladiators 2-1 in Millburn. Ross Gang scored for the Braves. AJ Greenberg made many great saves for the Braves and was helped on defense by Quentin Abramo and Raghav Pant.
The Millburn Rangers opened league play with a convincing 7-0 victory over the West Orange Strikers. Ryan Garfinkle and Jack Hall each scored two goals in the first half. Zach Barr added a goal and two assists, and Jake Nicoll and Luke Pickard scored one goal apiece. The Rangers controlled the play throughout the game with excellent all-around play from Danny Skolnick and Luko Vanish.
For the Millburn Hornets, from Isabelle Azulay and Brooke Hoffaman on were stellar, while Katelyn Zegas and Samantha Comito excelled on offense in the 1-0 loss to Livingston. Though the Hornets assumed possession of the ball the majority of the time, they were not able to achieve a goal for the duration of the action-packed game.
The Millburn Crusaders had a successful 5-2 outing versus the Middlesex Mayhem. Emilie Cowan scored four goals and Jamie Cutler scored one, with assistance from Ilana Nemerow, Cutler and Jenny Mazzella. Mariela McConoughey played standout defense, with strong contributions from Sydnie Hom and Emma Lipsky.
The U19 girls Millburn Thunder rolled over the Highland Park Owls 3-0 in their first game of the season. Zoe Taitel opened the scoring in the first half when she pried loose a Tara Sood corner kick from the Owl keeper’s hands. Sydney Frank added two in the second half, assisted on each by Emilia Meo.
