Local Golf Classic Named in Memory of Short Hills Resident

Bleakley Financial Group to present The Allen Meisels Memorial Golf Classic, benefiting New Jersey SEEDS

SHORT HILLS, NJ — The following news release comes courtesy of New Jersey SEEDS. Send local news tips, photos and press releases to eric.kiefer@patch.com

New Jersey SEEDS will raise funds for high-achieving, low-income students across the state during its annual Golf Classic event on Sept. 18, 2017 at the Mountain Ridge Country Club in West Caldwell. This year, the fundraiser is named for longtime NJ SEEDS Trustee and late Short Hills resident, Allen Meisels.

Meisels served on the NJ SEEDS Board of Trustees for over 20 years and was one of the major drivers behind the creation of the Golf Classic, according to SEEDS.

“New Jersey SEEDS and Bleakley Financial Group are honored to name this annual event in memory of Allen Meisels,” said NJ SEEDS Executive Director John F. Castano. “Allen served as a New Jersey SEEDS Trustee for more than 20 years. He was one of the major drivers behind the creation of our Golf Classic, and brought that same dedication, innovation and compassion to all he did with SEEDS. I also want to thank Andy Schwartz, SEEDS Trustee and Golf Committee Chair, and his colleagues at Bleakley Financial Group for their continued support. Since the team at Bleakley has sponsored the Golf Classic, SEEDS has raised nearly $2.7 million for our students – enough to support nearly 160 scholars’ SEEDS’ experiences. We are immensely grateful for all that they – and the Golf Committee members – have done to ensure that this event will raise the funds necessary to create opportunities for our students.”
