Millburn High Student Honored For Red Cross Blood Drive Efforts

Millburn, NJ – If you’ve recently given blood in town, there’s a chance that Millburn's Eric Mao had a hand in the process.
The American Red Cross New Jersey Region honored Mao with its Outstanding Youth Involvement Award during a Red Cross Volunteer Recognition ceremony on March 10 in Summit.
“We are proud to honor Eric for his incredible service to the American Red Cross,” said Christy Hodde, executive director of American Red Cross New Jersey Crossroads. “He is a dedicated and compassionate volunteer who is eager to help fulfill the Red Cross mission in his community.”

According to a news release, as president of the Millburn High School Red Cross Club, Mao led a club of 30 members in activities that included Disaster Relief and the Measles and Rubella Initiative.
“Mao is an avid supporter of Red Cross blood drives,” the news release stated. “He has taken on the responsibility of promoting and recruiting Red Cross Club members to help staff the successful monthly blood drives at the Millburn Public Library. He also takes the lead coordinating blood drives at Millburn High School.”
