Millburn Primary Election Is July 7, General In November
Voters must send in their ballots by July 7.
MILLBURN, NJ — Primary elections for statewide, countywide, and local elections will be held July 7, with the general election in November.
For the July primary this year, you can either vote by mail or vote in person by provisional ballot — but there will be no machine voting this July. Vote-by-mail ballots must be postmarked on or before July 7 and received by 8 p.m. on July 14.
In Millburn, four candidates are running for two spots opening up on the five-member Township Committee.

Since two Democrats and two Republicans are running for two spots, they'll be uncontested within their own primary, then face each other in the general election in November.

- The two Democratic candidates for the two seats are Sanjeev Vinayak and Maggee Miggins. When they announced their candidacies in April, they posted bios on Patch HERE.

In Millburn's form of government, candidates run for Township Committee, and are elected by the public. Then, the committee members choose a mayor and deputy mayor each year from among themselves.
In the primary, voters who are registered for a particular party can choose candidates to represent their party in November.

As per Governor Murphy’s Executive Order 144, every registered Republican and Democratic voter will automatically be mailed a vote-by-mail ballot for the July 7 Primary Election.
Unaffiliated/Undeclared voters will receive an application to request a vote-by-mail ballot. The July 7 Primary Election will be a primarily vote-by mail election, with a limited number of consolidated polling places.
Polling places will only be providing provisional ballots and an allowance for ADA voters to vote by audio on a voting machine. Essex County now offers a fully accessible absentee ballot for voters with disabilities. Provisional paper ballots and visually impaired audio voting will be available at the following locations on July 7 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.:

Social distancing/face coverings
- Six feet distance between voters as well as between voters and poll workers by demarcation of 6-feet of spacing in voter lines and poll workers stations will be enforced.
- Frequent sanitization of high touch areas in polling places consistent with CDC guidelines;
- Hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes will be available to poll workers, voters and those accompanying voters.
- Voters encouraged to adhere to CDC guidelines regarding face coverings while in the polling place, however, entry into the polling location cannot be denied for not wearing a face covering.
